We didn’t have snow, but our December meeting was heavenly anyway!

Weymouth House was the site of our December meeting, and all the members got to see all the decorations created by the area Garden Clubs, and particularly the SPECTACULAR room presented by the Garden Club of the Sandhills. It provided an extra special welcoming room to the house for the month of December. We had a wonderful buffet – a holiday potluck contributed by all our members, and organized by our wonderful hostesses, Marcia DeBolt, Elizabeth Fisher and Elaine Porzio. Thanks to everyone for the contributions! There was also entertainment…. including a surprise boogie by Thea’s talented husband, Dick. What a treat!

What a glorious welcome to Weymouth, courtesy of our Club and the genius of Tracye and Thea!
What a beautiful and heavily laden table!
Delicious and beautiful
We even had a cadre of husbands to assist getting the food into the dining room. Thanks guys!

November, 2023, was the perfect time to learn about Monarch Butterflies

Dr. Lynda Acker – a “Monarch Mama” – gave us a fabulous presentation at Clara McLean House on the life and times of Monarch Butterflies and what we can do to help. She made us aware of all these Mamas do to raise and then release Monarch butterflies into the wild. They give a lot of attention to educating the public on the importance of preserving this beautiful yet threatened wildlife species, with an amazing migration pattern which takes them all the way to Mexico every year. An important part of our role is the planting of native plants such as dozens of species of milkweed.  It was a fun and extremely educational meeting.

What a lovely table of fall treats furnished by Marie, Lydia and Dolores

October – Another Road Trip – This Time to Fuquay-Varina

We had a chance to tour the amazing gardens of horticulturist, Brie Authur. The small houses belied the amazing gardens behind and around them. Brie gave us the opportunity to view all the interesting and diverse gardens she has planted. What she has been able to accomplish is nothing shy of amazing.

Our hostess, Brie, had an amazing variety of plants surrounding her houses, on a relatively small footprint
Kim, Beth and Hartley enjoyed the goodie bags

Tracye and Elaine loved the mimosas!
The former fire pit turned into a lovely succulent garden
Despite the occasional mosquito, we gathered in the gardens for a great group pic!
