In May, the Garden Club of the Sandhills wrapped up its Fiftieth Year Celebration with it’s final meeting of the 2016-2017 year in the wildflower garden at the home of Jocelyn Servick.
Garden Club members participated in a plant exchange, had a swearing in led by Cynthia Matthes, toasted our newly elected officers, enjoyed a luncheon prepared by Sueson Vess, who spoke to us last year, and appreciated the hospitality of our hostesses, Jane Lewis, Carolyn Smith, Jocelyn Servick, Karen Fisher and Pat Welch. We toasted and thanked our outgoing President Marilyn Grube for being her thoughtful and diligent service to the Garden Club.
It was a lovely day and everyone present had a wonderful time.
The April meeting of the Garden Club of the Sandhills was held at Weymouth Woods – Sandhills Nature Preserve. Superintendent Billy Hartness spoke about the uniqueness of the Sandhills eco system, its inhabitants and the endangered Red Cockaded Woodpecker.
