The Garden Club of the Sandhills kicked off its 2016-2017 season holding their first meeting at the Timmel Pavilion on the grounds of the Pinehurst Village Arboretum. A beautiful “50 Blooming Years” booklet created by club members was given to each member. It tells the story, in photos and words, of the formation, goals and contributions the club has made.
The meeting’s guest speaker was Norma Burns, who spoke about edible flowers and herbs. Club member, Lydia Gill, was the winner of the aloe plant door prize provided by Ms Burns.
The Garden Club of the Sandhills celebrated by singing Happy Birthday and For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow. May Jane has been a loyal member of the Garden Club for 43 of the Club’s 50 years.
