I. Statement of Objectives
A. To support the goals of the Garden Club of North Carolina, Inc., such as the preservation of our natural resources.
B. To give members of the Club an opportunity to learn more about plants, landscaping and flower arranging.
C. To support local landscape programs such as beautification and litter control.
D. To bring an appreciation of horticulture into the lives of people of all ages through club projects.
E. To provide holiday decorations and floral arrangements at pubic areas such as libraries and hospitals.
F. To hold an annual benefit to provide funds for accomplishing these goals, if necessary.
G. Projects or donations to causes that do not further the ambition and purpose of the club as stated in the Bylaws and Club Policies should be avoided.
II. Membership
A. Before submitting an application for membership, sponsors of candidates are urged to propose persons who:
- For Active Membership – Have full time residency in Moore County.
- For Affiliate Membership – Have part-time residency in Moore Count (less than 6 months each year) or have full time residency in Moore County but are employed full time or have full time residency but have full time primary responsibilities.
B. Candidates for membership should:
- Have a keen interest in gardening and continued learning and be willing to work to accomplish Club objectives (Article II, Section A of the Club Bylaws).
- Have the time, energy and willingness to assume responsibility as well as perform assigned tasks.
- A NEW MEMBER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ATTENDING ORIENTATION AND MONTHLY MEETINGS.
III. Benevolence
The Benevolence Committee, at its discretion, using money allotted in the budget or by vote of the membership, shall send an appropriate remembrance, on behalf of the Club, to members or their immediate families, when necessary.
IV. Guests at Meetings
A. House guests are always welcome. A member must notify the Corresponding Secretary if bringing guests.
B. Two meetings a year shall be designated as open meetings to which guests may be invited. The program committee should plan outstanding programs and suitable locations for these meetings and arrange for extra hostesses.
V. Garden Club of North Carolina Meetings
A. The President and a delegate appointed by the Executive Board or the President will represent the Club at District #8 meetings and Garden Club of North Carolina meetings and and State, Regional and National meetings.
B. The Club shall pay for their registration fees and meals.
